Introduction to HBGAO:
Incorporated as a farm organization in Ontario on January 15, 2019, HBGAO is the official Ontario partner of the Haskap Canada Association (HCA).  HBGAO has representation on the HCA Board of Directors and participates with other “Grower Associations” at this level.  The Board of Directors is required to have 3 members from the counties of southern Ontario, 3 members from the districts of northern Ontario, and up to 3 additional members from any location in Ontario.  The “Head Office” of HBGAO is currently at 450 Ethel Street, Temiskaming Shores, Ontario.

HBGAO Objectives: as outlined in By-Law #1:
  1. The principal purpose of this Association is to support Ontario Haskap Growers; and
  2. Develop the Haskap industry in Ontario primarily by “on-field” management research via financial support from government agencies (and other interested partners).
  3. Develop, collect, and disseminate relevant “farm specific” information on Haskap Management to all members of the incorporation.
  4. Link with Government Agencies in “basic research” that will enhance the viability of the Ontario Haskap industry.
  5. Promote Haskap products to the Ontario public via traditional media, social media, and direct contact with the population as a whole.
  6. Link individual members to each other, both in their specific regions and across Ontario as a whole.
  7. Link with the Haskap Canada Association, and all other “regional” Haskap grower Associations, in order to foster cooperation and communication for the betterment of this industry.
