You will find us nestled between Brantford and St George in Ontario. We are solely a Haskap farm with 3 varieties, Beauty, Beast, Blizzard. Fresh berries available from the last week of June - July. Kimmy & Delano have been experimenting with foraging, preserving, and wine making from local plants and fruit by bringing in her Metis heritage to learn more about indigenous plants and their health benefits. The Super Haskap berries unique and wonderful flavour can be used both in sweet and savoury dishes. These plant-to-bottle wines resemble a full bodied Dry fruit wine & some off-Dry with beautiful sweet berry notes. All of our berries are hand~picked and frozen to allow a slow release of those amazing anthocyanin’s and antioxidants, and polyphenols. It is a Beautiful wines indeed! Blue Gables Acres is not an organic farm but we keep it as clean as possible by applying organic methods to ensure our plants are as healthy as possible. We encourage hummingbirds, nuthatches, and blue birds to eat the little pests; utilize mulch to keep down weeds so chemicals are not needed; and deploy canopy nets to protect the Haskap berries from the thieving waxwing birds - who would strip our fields within a few days. |
